PSYCHEDELIC |
L’album viene aperto e chiuso dalle eloquenti One More Year e One More Hour che riassumono i concetti espressi all’inizio.
Buon viaggio.
ENGLISH VERSION
Time, the inexorable passage of time, the solitary dance of sand that encloses this world in an enormous hourglass of memories, of past moments that will never return. Time and its solitude. Time and its scars, time and its slow and deep breath that suffocates the universe weaving its anxieties and insecurities. The Slow Rush is a cross-section that tells us about time and its effects on the human being, on his fragility, on dreams, on love, on life, which in a constant and inexorable way, (giving us beautiful moments and bad moments), gets shorter every day, placing spectators unable to intervene on the relaxed body of our last breath. The Slow Rush is a romantic, as well as melancholy tale of the human being who finds himself every day embarking on a journey in constant emotional storm. In this emotional context, Kevin Parker, a skilled manipulator of matter, brought here beyond the boundaries of flesh and space, delights us with his talent and his solitary point of view.
Already five years ago the splendid Currents had bewitched us with its electronic grooves to replace electric guitars and psychedelic ravines as we know them, building a fascinating hybrid like that record. Now The Slow Rush, starting from that assumption, broadens its range of action, moving in imaginative landscapes, almost impalpable in their desire to try to get away from the constant marking of time. The music reflects the lyrical contents wanting in all ways to look to the future while remaining anchored to the past. Psychedelia is thus suspended in a world where time seems to have stopped even for a moment and where the visions that dwell in Kevin Parker's mind seem to take shape track after track. The songs are constantly changing, often changing their skin, sometimes breaking up from each other even in the same piece. Everything has its own balance and has been designed with a disarming obsessiveness. Even if there are no longer distorted guitars, replaced by synthesizers and electronic beats, what remains constant is the trade union with a record past that does not seem to disappear, quite the opposite. Tame Impala are always them, they are always recognizable, even in this new course, where even more they manage in order to pass psychedelia in the eye of electronic music, funk, soul music, pop, resulting in a band still damn rock under the skin. The feeling remained unchanged going to create a mix of unforgettable songs. Borderline thus becomes the new Yes i’m Changing. The album is opened and closed by the eloquent One More Year and One More Hour which summarize the concepts expressed at the beginning.
If the first has a dancing rhythm while remaining firmly anchored to its basic melancholy, the latter turns out to be a small summary of the Tame Impala sound. In between there is everything. From the beautiful Posthumous Forgivness, to the dream pop ballad of One Track. From the funky rhythm of Lost in Yesterday, to the explosions of colors of It Might Be Time. From the acoustic embroidery of Tomorrow's Dust to the seductive movements of Instant Destiny.
Almost an hour of mental and surreal trip that will catapult you into a parallel dimension. In a vortex apparently disconnected from reality, where the thought form will no longer belong to you but will be enslaved by the music that Kevin Parker has created for you in this new sound carousel which is The Slow Rush. Have a good trip.
