FANGS OF THE MOLOSSUS

BIO:

Fangs Of The Molossus are a psych-doom metal band from the Florence area. The first band nucleus dates back to 2011, but several line-up changes caused delays and they reached some stability only in late 2012.
Members have quite a heterogeneous musical experience: Combo De La Muerte, Bobby Tumultous, Tombstone, I Ganzi, Cleaver, Bud Spencer Drunk Explosion… Having a common interest in muddy, slow-paced music too, they just wanted to see what could come out of this apparently weird mix of players.
Music wise, if their backbone is solid doom, once in a while you may happen to hear something that reveals their individual sensibilities: Hawkwind, Loop, Swans, Danzig, or even Morphine and Spacemen 3. At times structurally simple and hard rock-ish, other times layered, with frequent noise or space rock intervals, they don't always know what the final output of a song will be. And on stage things may change further.
As for the lyrics, the band finds inspiration anywhere: ancient Roman or Etruscan history and mythology, early 70's horror movies, science fiction literature, Beksinski paintings or comic books by Hideshi Hino.
After supporting Caronte, Funeral Marmoori, Electric Taurus, Mouth Of The Architect and Witche's Brew, Fangs Of The Molossus started recording their five-track self-produced debut, that was released on July 2013. The CD features two very good friends as special guests: Ain Soph Aour and J.C. Chaos (Necromass). When promoting the CD, they also opened for Mondo Generator, at 2013 Musica W Festival (Castellina).
On November 1st of 2013 the single "I Drink Your Blood" was released (ltd. edition colored 7") as well.
After the departure of the original singer Acid King Khanjia, the mic was passed to Amp Zilla, and 2014 also saw a new entry: old drummer Iako was replaced by Black Wizard, also known for his activity with Domine and Necromass.
On February 16th of 2015 Italian Doom Metal Records released a limited vinyl reissue of the S/T record (100 copies on transparent blood-red vinyl and 400 copies on black vinyl).
After more shows with some of the best acts in the doom scene (Kröwnn, Epitaph, Impero Delle Ombre, Doomraiser, Focus Indulgens, Atlantean Kodex, Forsaken, Conan) the band is currently writing material for a new full length, soon to be released.
